Learn about the history, culture & development of Cambodia through its stamps

January 7, 2009:  The 30th Anniversary of Great Victory Day, January 7, 1979-2009.

This set of stamps commemorates the official ousting of the Khmer Rouge regime (formerly known as Democratic Kampuchea) on January 7, 1979, the actual date when the capital, Phnom Penh, was formerly taken by soldiers from Vietnam and Cambodia.  Not all of the Cambodian territory was taken from the Khmer Rouge military forces on January 7, 1979, however.
